Do you want to be more environmentally friendly but aren’t quite sure how? Here are some ways to start living a more earth-friendly lifestyle:
1. Stop buying plastic straws! You’ve probably heard this over and over again, but seriously, no one needs a plastic straw - they’re not that great. At starbucks you can ask for a nitro lid with any drink and they will give it to you. For at-home drinks, you can buy glass or metal straws off of Amazon. They’re way more enjoyable to use anyways!
2. Turn in your cans! For college students especially, we all know there are plenty of empty cans waiting to be disposed of at the end of a long weekend. If you go to your local recycling center (most of the time grocery stores have this feature) you can turn in your cans in exchange for money (YAY), all while helping the environment at the same time. Simply disposing of waste in the correct places makes a huge difference, so be mindful!
3. Did you go on a big lululemon shopping spree last weekend? If you did and you’re still feeling uneasy about it, put that over-priced bag to good use and take it with you to the grocery store! In general, just bring your own bags in some form. Most places now charge you extra for asking for a plastic bag anyways, so you’ll be saving your earth and your money!
At the end of the day there is always a more environmentally friendly option out there, keep that in mind! Pretty much any plastic that you use has a biodegradable alternative.
